The Group-Six-Week

We can’t truly see ourselves clearly on our own.

We know this.

There is power in the vulnerability required to allow us to connect authentically with others.

We know this, too.

Group work is how we can get a more complete idea about who we are, while simultaneously connecting with, learning from, and validating the lived experiences of others.

The Group-Six-Week is structured around a six-step process you’ll be able to use again and again to discover and live your most integrated and honest life:

1). Identify your knowing. You’ll clearly identify and speak aloud the burning knowing that drew you to this work in the first place. What’s the thing you know you’re here to talk about? What thing do you know to be true that you might really wish wasn’t true at all? We’ll identify it and get specific about it.

2). Sit in it. You’ll sit in the discomfort of this clarity. You’ll practice staying, not running. You’ll begin to build the internal resilience necessary to endure persistently uncomfortable feelings.

3). Ask questions. Honest self-inquiry is the key to lasting change. You’ll ask hard questions of yourself: why do I feel how I do about this? Where did I learn that response? Am I willing to accept that avoiding myself is me making a choice? Who will I be if I shoo this truth away? Who will I be if I don’t?

4). Feel it all. This is where the integration of mind and body begins; you’ll learn to allow yourself to physically feel all that is bubbling to the surface as a result of the questions your asking and the answers you’re receiving. You will begin to learn to allow conflicting feelings to live alongside each other, and to fully allow how you actually feel to be okay. Rage, grief, joy, sadness, frustration, fear — it’s all on the table here.

5). Excavate your truth. Now that you’ve quite literally created energetic space in your body by unblocking previously-stuck emotional energy, what do you know? What’s just undeniably true? True for you, outside of other’s needs, expectations, wants, or desires for you? what do you know now?

6). Integrate. Acceptance. Action. Doing — these are the themes of our final step. This is where we lean on the emotional resilience we’ve been building, where we remind ourselves that we can survive discomfort, but that we won’t necessarily survive continuing to lie to ourselves about what we know about ourselves. This is where the work comes to life, where we embody the truth of who we are.

Phew, right? Exhale, love. Exhale.
